During the campaign, Trump said he would trash Obamacare. Then, in his meeting with Obama, he said that he liked certain provisions of it and agreed to entertain Obama’s request that two provisions be retained–parents could keep the kids on their policy to age 26, and the current requirement that no one could be denied coverage.

All of this suggests that the concept of a national healthcare plan will not be scrapped; but, the name of it will certainly be changed. And the plan does need to be changed.

Why? Some of the flaws in the current policy are: 1- the rates had been structured so that young people paid more than a fair market price for their insurance while older folks paid lower than fair market, and 2- the insurance allowed for an enormous exposure to providers in that treatment for abuse of drugs and alcohol were included. This set off a boom in the recovery field. Virtually anyone could claim the benefit of a 3-month program that could cost upward of $100,000, even though the success rate oftentimes is below 20%.

So, as I see it, the national healthcare plan will survive and it will be modified to address some serious flaws.
