Today, the pendulum has been swinging away from Trump toward Clinton. But, keep in mind that in 1980, Reagan was down about 17 points at about the same time and Bush (41) was also far behind in 1988.
Also, follow the money!
The media has a vested interest in having a close race. This year, the revenues have far exceeded previous years…media outlets are making fortunes. Does anyone think they want this gravy train to stop?
Although, Clinton is pulling some ads in key states and redirecting the funds to states that were not considered to be victorious, the overall advertising expenditures to the media outlets is an additional source of revenue. And, even if Trump continues to stumble, then the focus is on the the senate races. Thus, even if the insiders decide that Trump is a lost cause, no one will admit it because they need to keep the drama going for the senate races.
